Writing and taking pictures has been who I am since I was a tiny little 4th grader with a disposable camera and a #2 pencil.
My dream was to work in medicine so I could dedicate my life to the service of helping others. After 8 years of working in the hospital I decided I wasn’t able to help people in the way I had hoped and decided to chase a dream instead. I packed up everything I owned and drove myself and my dog Rusty over 800 miles north to a new city, I didn’t know a single soul, in order to peruse a degree in fine art. I traveled and worked for companies like DELL, enjoying everything that life had to offer.
I ended up marrying my childhood friend, and at the age of 27 I became a mother to a beautiful baby girl named Eleanor, and discovered just how lonely this season of life could truly be. I launched THE VILLAGE in the hopes of building the beautiful and honest community I was longing for, on the same day that I gave birth to my second daughter Maxine.
My husband suffers from a rare brain disorder called an AVM, every day he’s with our girls and I is a gift. Finding happiness even within the pain is important to me now more than ever, and I strive to share our story in the hopes of inspiring others to do the same.
You know what sets my soul on fire? Making people feel heard, seen, and less alone in this journey called life. If I can help you find JOY in your everyday, especially amongst the pain, then I can consider my job well done.
