I Wish To Remember

On My Journal

I Thought There would be rainbows

Accepting the things I cannot control.

How Quickly it Goes

Lets Go On An Adventure

Before You Go Any Further

The Highlight Reel

Writing and taking pictures has been who I am since I was a tiny 4th grader with a disposable camera and a #2 pencil. My dream was to work in medicine so I could dedicate my life to the service of helping others. After 8 years of working in the hospital I decided I wasn’t able to help people in the way I had hoped, and decided to chase a dream instead. I packed up everything I owned and drove myself and my dog Rusty over 800 miles north to a new city, I didn’t know a single soul, in order to peruse a degree in fine art. I traveled and worked for companies like DELL, enjoying everything that life had to offer.

I always thought I’d be a life long wanderer, never to marry or have children of my own. I’d met a boy when I was 15, we sat and talked on a couch for hours, never to meet in person again until 12 years and countless letters later. I ended up marrying that boy and became a mother to a beautiful baby girl named Eleanor, quickly discovering just how lonely that season of life could truly be.

I launched THE VILLAGE in the hopes of building the beautiful and honest community I was longing for, on the same day that I gave birth to my second daughter Maxine. Two years later I gave birth to my third daughter Charlotte.

My husband suffers from a rare brain disorder called an AVM, and now every day he’s still with us is a gift. Finding happiness, especially within the pain, is important to me now more than ever, and I strive to share our story in the hopes of inspiring others to do the same.

What is joy

—a sunbeam between two clouds.

~Dorothée de Luzy

You know what sets my soul on fire? Making people feel heard, seen, and less alone in this journey called life. If I can help you find JOY in your everyday, especially amongst the pain, then I can consider my job well done.

It’s Closer Than You Think

The Village

My Mother always told me, “do something you love and you will never work a day in your life”, The Village is a complete expression of that. It’s so much more than just “my job” The Village is me, from the #GatherTheVillage dinners, to The Village Magazine, from the community that I built, not just for myself, but most importantly, for others, to The Book Club, The Village is the ever changing ever growing expression of me.

The Village

Established in 2015, The Village is dedicated to helping individuals build and establish their community through our GATHER THE VILLAGE events, magazine, online community, and Podcast. I passionately believe that honest conversation and story telling are the building blocks to creating a long lasting and meaningful community.

My Book Club

What’s better than tucking into a warm bed and reading a good book by candlelight? Chatting about said book with good friends that's what! I’ve wanted to join a book club ever since I first saw The Jane Austin Book Club years and years ago, so I finally decided to start one of my own.
